Description
"Banking Transactions" provides practice in the spoken English needed by professionals and trainees in banking and finance. The course includes a student's book, a teacher's book and a cassette. The contextualized practice is designed to aid understanding of topic areas such as cheque clearance, EFTPOS or the fiannce of foreign trade, while at the same time providing models for the production of the language needed to explain discuss them. Students may choose either to concentrate on topics relevant to their professional needs or to found out more about other branches of banking. The student's book contains 10 units, tapescripts, answer key, glossary of financial terminology and an index. The teacher's book contains lesson notes for each unit, additional material for further practice, photocopiable participant files for simulations, tapescripts and answer key. The cassette is for practising pronunciation of the vocabulary in context. Topics include cheques, plastic money, personal accounts, interbank electronics, opening business accounts, factoring services, advising a business customer, export finance, marketing banking services. The topics are useful for a wide range of departments and for all banking staff. In general the English becomes more difficult unit by unit, but the units can be used independently - the increasing difficulty is not in grammar but in vocabulary. Each unit contains four kinds of activity: before reading, short reading passage or dialogue, vocabulary, discussion. Somethimes there is also a section on grammar. An ELBS/LPBB edition is available. - from Amzon
